Electric Barracuda by Tim Dorsey is for people who are tired of the endless struggle to be good in a bad world and need a little harmless diversion. If you've read any of the previous stories you'll be happy to know this is just as good as its predecessors. If this is your first foray into Serge's adventures, don't worry about it, no amount of background reading can prepare you for any of them.Serge is the quintessential O.C.D., a compulsive, creative man with a very strict set of morals which is why if he encounters an evil person his compulsion makes it inevitable that the person be dispatched in the most complicated way possible. This brings about all sorts of misunderstandings, especially by assorted branches of law enforcement. This time Serge, seized by a fit of entrepreneurial mania, decides to start a travel service. The story starts fast, but all Serge stories begin with the feel of falling out of a plane and landing on a roller coaster that's already on fire. Serge is accompanied by his faithful cohort Coleman, who can't always get his shoes on the right feet and is busy ingesting anything that might get him high and studying the toilet bowl, wondering what he could have put in, that came out looking like that? Then there's Serge's fascination with Florida history and his relationships with the colorful characters inhabiting the sunshine state that continually amaze, enlighten and entertain. Dorsey is a master at making people laugh and that is and always has been a very rare talent. These books are in no way P.C, so if you are easily offended by literature that deviates from the norm you'll still laugh, but feel bad about yourself, so you've been warned.
