Wow, an actual listing for the cassette version (which I have and just burned to CD).I picked this up in the 90's just out of curiosity. I was never a huge fan of them and Are You Ready was just not my thing. However, I wanted to hear what else this band could do and for 99 cents, it wasn't much of an investment. They have been described as a blues rock band. However, I would be inclined to call them a soul rock band. They sound more like they came out of Motown than San Francisco. It is not just the vocals that give me that impression but the music as well. It has a funk vibe that though maybe based in the blues, sounds more like Motown soul. That being said, after listening to it all the way through, I can say it wasn't bad at all.As for the musicians, there are just a few bright moments for the guitarist. I'm not sure if Glen Schwartz played on all of these cuts since he left the band in their heyday. Being a greatest hits package, it may also include songs provided by other incarnations than the band shown on the cover. Whoever is doing the guitar solos had a few nice bright spots that stood out. The bass player drives things home and is what zeroed me in on the funk sound. There are horns here and there too, as well as the Blackberries at least on Are You Ready and maybe even Heat Wave. Not bad music, just not my thing and nothing really memorable except their biggest hit. Still a fine band if you like that style.
